The upstairs living quarters and meeting room at the Center on Tchoupitoulas are now complete and ready for ministry volunteers.

The best news of all is that the upstairs is fully paid for, thanks to the generosity of faithful givers.

Volunteers from First Baptist Church of West Monroe brought and installed a new dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator in our upstairs apartment. The completion of our upstairs facilities will enable us to house mission volunteers.

PLANS AND NEEDS FOR 2012

We are planning many exciting things for 2012, and we face many big challenges. We will continue to seek new and better ways to minister to the seafarers aboard the cargo and cruise ships that come to our port. We are also making plans to be more effective in ministering to the many people who work in the port. We are here to share the love of Christ with the world at our doorstep.

Our greatest need for 2012 is for more volunteers and staff. Our new center has opened many doors for ministry, but it has also increased the urgent need for help.

We need committed, consistent volunteers to help keep both centers open each evening for seafarers. We need volunteers to host port workers who visit the centers in the day time. We need volunteers to help with driving a shuttle, ministering to seafarers at the center, and helping to provide refreshments on the days the cruise ships call on the port. We need volunteers to help with daily tasks at the centers, such as doing maintenance, cleaning, answering the phones, welcoming seafarers and port personnel, and doing other tasks necessary to keep the ministry running on a daily basis.

Will you commit to praying for God to answer our needs, and if He chooses you to volunteer, will you answer that call?

Join us also in praying that God will provide the resources for additional port chaplains to enable us to serve the increased number of ships and visitors to our port.

This year will also bring many opportunities for us to continue to become an integral part of the port community. Our goal is to start three new ministries in the port this year: a regular Bible study with port personnel, a weekly prayer time with the Harbor Police, and a weekly lunch for port personnel.

Our goal to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Global Maritime Ministries in 2013 is to retire the note on our Tchoupitoulas Center, leaving us debt-free to focus on our ministry outreach in the Port of New Orleans.

Read about how you can help us achieve this goal.
